The surrounds also feature the two original stallion boxes, a 16 horse stable complex area and a grass tennis court. The venue is located just twenty minutes drive from Masterton, 2 hours from Wellington or a twenty five minute helicopter flight from Wellington Airport.
Te Parae Homestead is the ideal location for a picturesque garden wedding. From small intimate gatherings to large marquee weddings, the venue can accommodate you no matter what you require. Te Parae provides a spectacular ceremony area surrounded by mature trees and garden, overlooking the stunning lake, with the 110-year-old homestead behind. The centrepiece altar is a rustic antique waka milled and carved on the property, with the 80-year-old ornamental grape pergola as the bridal walkway. If preferred, there are unique indoor alternatives for your ceremony from the function rooms in the grand homestead to the boathouse overlooking the lake. The well-established ten-acre garden, stables and lakeside locations provide beautiful and unique settings for wedding photographs to suit the Bride and Groom. Te Parae has a dedicated lawn large enough for a 15m x 30m marquee, to seat up to 280 guests.
Te Parae offers options for the bridal party to prepare themselves on their wedding day. There are several rooms in the Homestead available for hair & makeup. Pre-ceremony food options include champagne breakfasts, morning/afternoon teas, and light lunches. Pre-ceremony activities such as ‘hole in one’ golf, clay-bird shooting, tennis, paddling on the lake in the dinghy or peddle boat and games in the billiard room are also available.
For bridal party accommodation, Te Parae offers four king bedrooms, a double and a single bedroom available in the homestead and a three bedroom cottage located on the opposite side of the lake.
Other optional extras include a helicopter service, arriving in style on the dedicated helipad just below the ceremony area or a fly-by of vintage aircraft.
Packages include a wedding co-ordinator to assist with various suppliers - from transport to florists, from entertainment to caterers, our staff are on-hand to assist with ideas and support.
