Prairie: Inspired by Yesteryear
A slower-paced life, when things were simpler and the sky was bluer, with heirlooms passed down and treasured forevermore. Laura Ingalls Wilder captured it best when she said, “I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” This shoot, Prairie, was inspired by those intangible feelings. We wanted to express that longing for the simple times past, and doing so was a challenge we were fortunate to undertake. We focused on sustainable styling, using elements of old-world pieces and a minimalistic vision. Our palette was based around the earth itself: the colours of dust, golden and warm, infused into elegant and understated nature. We played with shadows, natural textures, the sun and the sky - we let the world itself seep into the shoot. Layered and dried handpicked florals were used to emphasise an atmosphere filled with light, as opulent as it was simple. Natural elements and natural beauty last the test of time. With this styled shoot, we wanted to be fashion-forward, but simultaneously go back to our roots. The balance was a precise one to strike, but we believe we have put together a shoot to truly inspire the modern, classic bride.
