"Hamish and I met in high school through friends. We became friends first, hanging out together. Hamish made the first move by asking me out. We shared a couple of months secretly dating and fell in love over the Christmas holidays. After that, we came back for our senior year as a couple! Neither of us ever thought we'd marry our high school sweetheart, but from day one, it just worked so well. We went through so much together at a young age; it made us see the teammate we had in each other. Years later, we planned to go to an Ed Sheeran concert during a weekend away together. After some dancing and singing, our song "Perfect" was played. I was too busy singing away - I didn't realise Hamish had a ring out and was popping the question! Once I turned to see, it was, of course, a gleeful, "YES!" Afterwards, I realised how nervous Hamish had been that night and saw why! It's worth noting that this was still a big surprise even after 15 years and 3 children! I had no clue. It was an exciting moment getting home and telling our kids that mom and dad were engaged and finally getting married! They were so excited, and it was so special to share the moment with them. Simple, fun, full of love and with a touch of elegance was the wedding idea. We pictured an intimate day with our close family and friends celebrating our journey together. It was important for us to include our 3 children as it was just as much their day as it was ours! Our daughter Rylee was a bridesmaid; she read a poem during the ceremony. Our two sons, Mason and Caden, were groomsmen. They were all so emotional. The lead-up to it all and seeing everyone in the moment was a lot of excitement. We had many tears of joy from our son Caden who was 5 then, followed by many others watching on. It was such a special moment for our friends and family to watch us finally be married with our children by our sides. It was beautiful. Both Hamish and I lost a parent early on in our lives and felt they were a big part of our plans and our day. Their presence was significant from the beginning. I had my late mother's wedding dress lace incorporated into the invitations, wore her brooch in my hair and had her pearl bracelet in my bouquet, while Hamish wore his late dad's pocket square and cufflinks. As "Perfect" is our song, I had a special wedding gift for Hamish: I had the piece hand-written in calligraphy and framed. The lyrics mirror our story and fit us so well. It was also the song we had our first dance to. Getting engaged at the concert while Ed sang the song was a pretty remarkable moment. Amongst thousands of people, we were the only two there."
