Rarely are there opportunities to experience hospitality at the time-honed level of a truly honored guest; but such awaits the visitor to Greenmantle Estate. Ebullient hosts Ralph & Letizia effuse a warmth and character potentially unsurpassed in hoteliers; you have entered not just another luxury boutique property but in virtual reality, their home.Furnished in an eclectic style, woven from unmistakable Italian flair and the slightly off-beat influence of minds unbridled by contemporary design, Greenmantle is a resort to be cherished by the discerning, fortunate guest. The grounds: 5 acres of manicured lawns and flower beds lead into untamed rain-forest as one ascends the hill behind the main house. Here guests will discover two of the offered six, beautifully appointed suites, located in a separate building. Beyond lies the wonderful sanctuary of a secluded Hot Tub/Jacuzzi - a great place to soak away any tribulations brought on from a hectic day. Enterprising guests may also discover other enchanted spaces laid to sooth the inner man or woman; places to reflect and contemplate, watched over only by the resident family of white ducks.
Personal security and privacy is taken very seriously at Greenmantle: as too is the food and beverage selection. Not universally well known as a country for producing fine quality wines, New Zealand has a few, more than simply just drinkable vintages to entice the adventuring palate! A number of such bottles presently reside within Ralph's cellar and he relishes the chance to both educate and elucidate on their particular, individual attributes.
Food, whilst reflecting an international flavour, is undoubtedly understated by an Italian influence. Great care and enthusiasm is taken in the use of local, seasonal produce, all presented with immaculate attention to detail.
Greenmantle however, is not for everyone, it is a small resort run and managed in a very personal and intimate fashion and thus people who prefer the more disciplined style of larger properties may not find the bespoke nature to their taste. But for those who relish such a unique form of hospitality cannot fail to be impressed and when their time comes to depart, it will be with a certain sadness at the parting with new found friends.
