As each year passes, we’re treated to new and exciting hair and makeup trends. When deciding on what makeup look and hair style you want for your wedding, it’s a good idea to make sure you know what’s on trend so you can pick something appropriate and beautiful. The senior stylists at Penny Rose Styling have put together a list of their top 9 trends and tips for the coming wedding season. From bright, berry lips, to stunning flower crowns, there’s bound to be something you’ll love!

Ellie’s Tips

1. Hair - Braided Elements

Without going full hippy, a nod to bohemian waves and braids seems to be a hot request this season. Subtle braided elements in your hairstyle adds interest without losing the formality of an up-do for your wedding.

2. Makeup – Beautiful Berry Lips

Forget a 'barely there' pout - deeper shades of any berry are braver bridal choices. A bold berry lippy can also tie in a floral colour palette to your bridal look, making everything pop! The colour itself is very popular - Pantones colour of the year was Marsala, a bold, berry hue.

3. Makeup - Understated Eye Makeup

Berry lips teamed with an understated, soft eye makeup suits almost everyone and adds instant glamour. This look is becoming increasingly popular and I just love how it compliments all skin tones.

4. Hair - Classic Hollywood Waves

In a nod to old Hollywood glamour, soft smooth waves are making a comeback, and this look is particularly simple and elegant. It can be styled with a side parting and volume at the roots and then finished with an antique hair comb or flowers.

5. Makeup – Blushed Cheeks

This season is all about blushed cheeks. Using either a pink or peach blush to create a subtle pop of colour, pay special attention to the apple of the cheek for a full, flattering effect. Then add a hint of highlight on the cheekbone to finish it off with an effortless, fresh and romantic look.

6. Baby's Breath Brides

Beautiful Babies Breath has made its come back and we couldn’t be more pleased! Tuck it into segments of your hair, through your braid, or go all out and place an entire stem in your hairstyle. This look is delicate, elegant and pretty all at once.

7. Strobing

Leave flat matte faces in the past where they belong, this season we love skin that looks fresh, glowing and even strobing. Easily achieved with MAC Minerlize Skinfinish and a base of Strobe Cream, this effect highlights the parts of your face where the light touches and emphasizes your natural glow.

8. Flower Crowns

More popular than ever are beautiful flower crowns. Adorn yourself with a crown of blossoming flowers! Nothing sets off your makeup and adds fun and festivity quite like it and of course, the colourful blooms will match your bright, berry lip perfectly.

9.  A Change of Lipstick

If you decided to go subtle for the wedding ceremony, have a change of lipstick for the reception and dancing. There’s nothing quite like a bright, fun lipstick to say “let’s party!”
